1934, letter from Tazio Nuvolari (1892-1953) to Anthony Noghès, founder of the Automobile Club de Monaco and initiator of the Monaco Grand Prix.Nuvolari reported that he had been in Milan for two months to await his son's operation, which had been completed the previous day with excellent results. Due to these circumstances, he politely asks for indulgence for his late reply to the addressee's letter.He thanked Noghès warmly for the invitation to take part in the Monaco Grand Prix and for the special conditions granted, and confirmed his participation for 1934 - this time in a Bugatti.Nuvolari encloses the duly signed entry form and announces that he will provide the technical details of his car as soon as Meo Costantini, the then head of the Bugatti works team, has decided on the exact type of car.The letter ends with kind regards and the anticipation of seeing him again soon in Monaco, signed Nuvolari

The letter reveals Sommer's strategic thinking, his technical ambitions and the importance of international contacts in pre-war motorsport. This long-distance journey of over 3000 km was considered one of the toughest automobile tests of its time. Two production vehicles from the French brand La Buire completed the race without penalty points and took first place ahead of 63 competitors - a remarkable success for the company based in Lyon at the time.
