No. 100 TARGA FLORIO
1907, program booklet with regulations and route map, 100 pages, illustrated, very rare race program of the second edition of this historic race...The 1907 Targa Florio took place on the 148 km long Grande circuito delle Madonie over three laps. Due to the large number of participants, the starting interval was shortened from ten to three minutes. After Vincenzo Trucco (Isotta Fraschini) initially took the lead, a duel developed between Fiat and Darracq. Felice Nazzaro took the lead in the Fiat, while Louis Wagner (Darracq) retired due to a defect. Nazzaro eventually won the race in a comfortable 8:17:36.4 hours, twelve minutes ahead of his team-mate Vincenzo Lancia, and was therefore over an hour faster than the previous year's winner. This success made Nazzaro the most popular racer in Italy. The lack of communication along the route remained a major problem, meaning that drivers and spectators did not know their positions; from 1908 onwards, they made do with their own clocks and tables.
