original BMW 700RS Apfelbeck racing boxer engine, two cylinder with 700ccm, c. 80 HP, roller plunger, 9000 cycles per minute, this racing engine is an unique specimen, at any rate is no further specimen known, the engine was developed on the drawing board of the famous Austrian engineer Ludwig Apfelbeck, Apfelbeck was at this time one of the greatest motor engineers, many BMW racing engines were made under his auspices, Ludwig Apfelbeck converted this engine to roller plunger and produced own cylinder heads, both cylinders were operated with two Dell`Orto carburetors, the cylinders were cooled with two electrical blowers, that were originally used into a BMW 503, engine has a transistor ignition, the engine was complete refurbished by Theo Sattler (a well-known name in the BMW RS scene) and is ready to install, with corresponding modifications this engine can also used in BMW 700 coupes
